Can you REALLY Learn This Online?
Absolutely. We have students in 45 States and 25 Countries learning this EVERY Day right now. You have to put in the work, however. Just 20-30 minutes a day builds real skill. Our curriculum is designed from the ground up with the remote student in mind. Everything is clear, and laid out in a logical progression so you can follow along.
What space or gear do I need?
Just some simple space in your garage, basement or even outside. You dont need anything crazy to get started. Just a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. As for gear, we have videos on how to make your own inexpensive training bata (stick), or you can source custom training sticks from our online store.
How do I test for Rank?
When you are ready, you simply video yourself doing the techniques for the level you are testing for. In our student manual, we have copies of the rank evaluation testing sheets that outlines EXACTLY what you will need to demonstrate on your video test for each rank level. Don’t worry, you do not need to be a professional videographer. Just set up your phone, hit record and demonstrate the techniques. Then send us the video for formal evaluation.
What happens if I fail a test?
When you submit your video test, my senior instructors and I will evaluate everything we see and provide detailed feedback on what you are doing well and what you may still need to work on. Pass or fail, you will get the instruction you need to continue to improve and grow your skills. If you do not pass the first time, simply go back and train some more with the feedback we provide and then when you are ready to test again, send in an updated video. This allows you to re-test until you pass the standards.
How often is feedback available?
As often as you want it or need it. You are always welcome to reach out via email, chat, call, etc to check in during any step along your progression. We want you to be successful, so we encourage you to check in as you go. We recently launched an online community chat group as well so you can chat with our instructors and fellow students.
What is a “skills audit”?
Simply put, it is an evaluation of how you are doing along the way. You are encouraged to send in videos of yourself in between rank testing events simply for a check in on your progress. Every time you do, we will give you detailed feedback on what you are doing well and what you need to work on. There are no fees or costs for these check in points. Just a great way to check your progress.
