Founder

Brent Earlewine is the Founder and Master Instructor of the Combat Shillelagh Stick Fighting System. He started his martial arts journey over 37 years ago and has spent that entire time studying, training and travelling all over the world in the martial arts.  He is a Dai Shihan, (JuGodan, KuGyo Happo Biken) in Budo Taijutsu and the lead instructor at the Pittsburgh Bujinkan Taka Seigi Dojo.  

In addition, he holds Blackbelt rank in Tang Soo Do as well as Shoden level certification in Muso Ikken Ryu Batto Jutsu Japanese Swordsmanship. 

Brent is an Internationally Certified PPM Personal Protectives Measures Combatives Instructor (Level I Instructor and Advanced Edged Weapons Level II Instructor) under the guidance of the Sentinel International Group. (These certifications took over 7 years of dedicated effort to achieve) 

He is a Certified NRA “Refuse to Be a Victim” Instructor.  He also holds certificates in A.L.I.C.E. Active Shooter Defense methodology and is certified in the Left of Bang “Combat Hunter” Program.  He spent significant time studying within a “mother” System of Escrima.

Throughout his martial arts studies, Founder Brent Earlewine has focused on staff and bladed weapons of all types & sizes giving him deep domain expertise on uses and applications. He has brought this knowledge to modern day Irish Stick Fighting with the Shillelagh.

The Combat Shillelagh Irish Stick Fighting System was established in 2015 after being codified over the previous 4 years.  It is THE most robust and well documented Irish Stick Fighting system available anywhere, and it offers a unique blend of ruthless practicality, history, heritage and modern day applications.
